"Accentuate the strengths, hide the weaknesses"A wise man once replied when asked how to mastermind a great performance. Simple as that. No wonder Katy Perry's latest video does not contain a choreographed dance routine. In fact, the singer does more acting than dancing in this video, which not-coincidentally is her best video yet, and one of the best of the year so far.
Mrs. Brand clearly has a future in acting if perchance this whole singing thing doesn't pan out (it will)... Or even if she eventually decides to switch gears like JT, who has found success in movies in spite of his arrogance. She seems to be heading in that direction anyways as her videos are progressively featuring more acting scenes, which is a good thing. Katy Perry's strength is her charming and funny personality and she's better suited accentuating it than trying to compete with the Rihanna's and Gaga's of the world, who are clearly better performers, musically speaking. But I digress, TGIF is a great video although the Hanson cameo is underutilized. Yes, that HANSON! Watch it. if only for them.
